The BMS Seed Slotter is an indispensable tool for greenkeepers, groundsmen, and turf care professionals.

Designed to optimise seed germination and promote healthy turf growth, the Seed Slotter comes in two versions: The Rotary Seed Slotter and the static option.

Both versions are engineered to provide a flat-bottomed slot at the optimum depth of 1/2″ (approximately 13mm), creating an ideal environment for seed germination.

The BMS Static Seed Slotter is easy and very quick to use, aids germination and maximises growth and repair.

Used for over-seeding worn areas or patches on all fine turf, the 1/2″ slots allow the penetration of seed and water into compacted playing surfaces.

This greatly speeds up the seed germination and quickens the recovery of the playing surface.

This slotter is supplied with a fitted 4ft handle.

Key Features

Flat-Bottomed Slot: The flat-bottomed slot ensures that the seed “turns” during the rapid germination period of less than 7 days. This turning action encourages stronger root growth.

✅ Optimum Depth: The 1/2″ depth allows for better moisture absorption by the seed, further aiding in germination.

✅ Protected Environment: The topdressing sand creates a protective environment for the seed, maximising its chances of survival and strengthening the root structure.

The authentic BMS Rotary Lawn Slotter is now only available in black.

Benefits of using a seed slotter

✅ Rapid Germination: The design of the Seed Slotter allows for rapid seed germination, often in less than 7 days.

✅ Stronger Growth: The turning action and optimum depth encourage stronger root growth, leading to healthier, more resilient turf.

✅ Resource Efficiency: The Seed Slotter’s precise design results in a 50% saving of grass seed when overseeding, making it a cost-effective solution for turf management.

Practical Application

Brian Dunne from Adare Manor Golf Club highly recommends the BMS Static Seed Slotter for use on greens, tees, collars, and aprons. According to Brian, it’s one of the best purchases he made this year for turf care.

Hello everyone, Brian Dunne here from Adare Manor Golf Club. I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with the BMS Static Seed Slotter, a tool that has become indispensable in our turf care regimen. I believe this could be a game-changer for many of you as well.

Identifying Problem Areas

We all know that maintaining a golf course is no small feat. From disease scars to dry patches, problem areas are inevitable. The first thing we do is identify these spots on our greens, tees, collars, and aprons.

Preparing the Ground

Once we’ve marked out the areas that need attention, we use the BMS Static Seed Slotter to create holes. The flat-bottomed slots it creates are at an optimum depth of 1/2″ (approximately 13mm), which is ideal for seed germination.

Seed Application

After preparing the ground, I take some of my bent seed and spread it generously over the slotted areas. The flat-bottomed slots ensure that the seed ‘turns’ during the rapid germination period, which is usually less than 7 days. This turning action encourages stronger root growth, making the turf more resilient in the long run.

Topdressing and Levelling

The next step is to apply some dry topdressing sand over the seeded area. This not only fills the slots but also provides a protective layer for the seed. Finally, we level off the area using a level lute to ensure an even surface, which is crucial for optimal growth.

The Results

I’ve found that the seed germinates more rapidly and the turf shows stronger growth when we use the BMS Static Seed Slotter. It’s a cost-effective solution as well, as its precise design results in a 50% saving of grass seed when overseeding.

“I can confidently say that the BMS Static Seed Slotter is one of the best purchases I’ve made this year. It has streamlined our overseeding process, improved the quality of our turf, and ultimately saved us both time and resources. I highly recommend it for any course looking to improve their turf quality.”
